The Mobile Chamber is a private business organization with more than 1,700 members and the economic developer for the City of Mobile and Mobile County. The Mobile Chamber’s focus is to provide members with networking, marketing and professional development opportunities, expand jobs in the area, develop the local workforce, advocate legislative priorities and offer resources to help small businesses grow. Healthcare Is an Asset We Should Never Take for Granted

Mobile is a regional center for medical care, research and education. Not only is world class healthcare a quality of life asset for citizens across the Gulf Coast region, but also a key driver of the local economy and ensures we remain successful in the recruitment of new businesses. In fact, nearly 13 percent of Mobile’s workforce is employed in the healthcare sector.
Without quality healthcare, Mobile cannot compete for large scale manufacturing projects. University Hospital is home to the region’s only accredited level one trauma center and burn center. This asset is vital as the U.S. Chamber markets our region to prospective businesses and industries.
It also gives Mobile a key advantage over many of our competitor communities through the southeast and ensures our business community will receive the best health care services should an accident occur. We should never take these services for granted; rather, we should consider it a privilege and necessity to our businesses and our citizenry. Let’s all continue to work together with our healthcare community to help them expand and strengthen these critical services.
