SHOE STATION’S BRENT BARKIN IS ALABAMA RETAILER OF THE YEAR
The Alabama Retail Association has named G. Brent Barkin, former president and chief executive officer of Shoe Station Inc., as the Alabama Retailer of the Year in the Annual Sales More Than $20 Million category.
At the close of 2021, Barkin negotiated the acquisition of Shoe Station by footwear retail giant Shoe Carnival, where he currently serves as senior vice president of new business development and integration and leads the Shoe Station brand.
Barkin’s commitment to his community and industry impressed the Retailer of the Year judges. He serves on the board of directors and as incoming chairman of the Mobile Chamber. At the end of June, Barkin completed a term as board chair for the United Way of Southwest Alabama and formerly served as campaign chair. He is also active in developing industry professionals through his involvement in the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama.
The Mobile Chamber was proud to nominate Shoe Station for this statewide award.
