Core Industries to Build New Processing and Storage Facility

The Mobile Chamber and Industrial Development Authority are announcing that Core Industries has entered into an agreement with CM Biomass, one of the largest independent wood pellet trading companies in the world, to construct a cutting-edge processing and storage facility.

As part of the agreement, Core Industries will receive, store and load wood pellets for shipment. To accommodate this collaboration, Core Industries will invest $8.75 million in the construction of two warehouses, each spanning 57,600 square feet, at their existing location on Claudia Lane in Theodore, Alabama.

This project creates 28 new jobs over the next five years.

Core Industries is one of the largest privately held port facilities in the Southeast and boasts impressive capabilities to handle multiple vessels simultaneously, with a depth of 40 feet and two docking facilities.

“Core Industries’ construction of an almost $9-million state-of-the-art processing and storage facility and the creation of 28 new jobs will help strengthen our local economy and aid the global distribution of a high-demand renewable energy product. This partnership and investment underscore Mobile County’s maritime capacity and growing logistics industry reputation,” said Mobile County Commission President Randall Dueitt.

CM Biomass has a production facility in Jackson, Alabama, and recently acquired a pellet mill in Washington County. This new processing facility at Core’s existing location in Theodore will allow the company to enhance the distribution and logistics capabilities for these operations.
