The Alabama Retail Association has named Mo’Bay Beignets Co. the 2022 Gee Emerging Retailer of the Year. The award is given annually to one innovative and effective Alabama retailer who has been in business for at least two years, but less than five.

The Retailers of the Year judges marveled at Mo’Bay Beignet’s “100% word of mouth and social media” marketing. They opened their first location in Downtown Mobile in 2020. In 2021, new locations opened in March (Auburn) and November (west Mobile). So far in 2022, locations have opened in Hattiesburg, Miss. (April), Orange Beach (June) and Tuscaloosa (July) with another planned for a fall opening in Saraland. This month, Mo’Bay Beignet Co. began selling during Auburn University home games inside Jordan Hare Stadium.

The judges also noted that in less than three years, its corporate and franchise stores employ 125.

The Mobile Chamber was proud to nominate Mo’Bay Beignets for this statewide award. Attached is our photo from today’s presentation and the official press release. The release can also be found on the Alabama Retail Association website here: https://alretail.org/3L3kIeq
