It is incredibly exciting to release our newly-updated economic development marketing materials, which will be used as a tool for our continued business recruitment in key business sectors. Our strategy continues to be built on our region’s competitive strengths, built around business “clusters.” Simply put, these are types of businesses that locate and thrive in any area because of several factors, including the presence of customers and providers, access to skilled human resources and know-how, the proximity to colleges and universities, training centers and research institutions, and the availability of raw materials and infrastructure.

In that context, it’s easy to see why the clustering approach to economic development works so well for our community.

Over the past two decades, clustering has been a proven strategy for sound economic development, and I’m particularly proud that Mobile is blessed with many fast growing and thriving business sectors.

Aviation/aerospace is perhaps our most recent and fastest growing one, but our focus also continues to be on maritime, oil and gas, healthcare, technology, distribution and chemicals. Let me know what you think. I look forward to your feedback.
