- About Us
The Chamber’s International Trade team connects our community to the world. We believe there is no better time than now for companies to expand and diversify their markets globally. And we can help. The division promotes exports to expand our local economy. We will help you identify new market opportunities, build global networks through trade education events and first-class trade missions and address international trade matters.
The Chamber’s International Trade division is the winner of the “Going International Award” by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives, a recipient of the President’s “E” Award for Export Service, and the Governor’s Trade Excellence Award. In May, the Mobile Chamber received the President’s “E” Star Award for Export Service, presented to firms and organizations for continued performance in increasing and promoting exports. Only four export service providers in the nation received this high honor.

A seamless network exists throughout the state of Alabama where companies can reach federal, state and local agencies and organizations that provide special services to the international community. The Alabama International Trade Resource Guide addresses the information and resource needs of businesses in the state that are interested in creating or expanding their global presence. Over 300 private and public regional organizations whose goal is to serve the needs of the international community are listed.
Alabama exports are fundamental to the prosperity of the state’s economy. The Year in Trade provides a quick overview of Alabama’s role in the global marketplace and illustrates the State’s top export markets.
The Export Alabama Alliance Strategy is developed annually with the input of the Export Alabama Alliance. This comprehensive strategic plan provides numerous opportunities for Alabama companies to build sustainable relationships throughout the world as well as opportunities to educate local leaders on the impact of trade.
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with its Export Alabama Alliance partners, lead first-class trade missions to targeted markets every year. The delegation, comprised of mostly small and medium sized companies, government officials, trade organizations, and educators, meet with pre-screened foreign companies interested in buying Alabama-made goods and services. The trade division strives to connect our community to the world and facilitate international business in the region. We offer the following documentation services to chamber members and non-members:
Certificates of Origin (COO) – A Certificate of Origin (also known as a COO) is a document used in international shipments. It is a printed form, completed by the exporter or its agent and stamped by a local Chamber of Commerce, which attests that the goods in a particular export shipment have been wholly produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. The “origin” does not refer to the country where the goods were shipped from but to the country where they were made.
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce requires the following statement on ALL certificates of origin prior to verification.
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, a recognized Chamber of Commerce under the laws of The State of Alabama, certifies that to the best of its knowledge and belief, products named in this document originated in the United States of America. This certification is based solely on the exporter’s (shipper’s) or forwarder’s representations or declarations, and not on independent verification or inspection, and makes no expressed or implied warranty on the goods, declaration, or related documents.
There is an $8 fee for Chamber members and $15 fee for non-Chamber members per certificate and certificates must be picked up from the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce office.
