Through collaborative efforts between Mobile Mask, Bellingrath Gardens, the City of Mobile and Visit Mobile a new display of carnival-themed lights are up at Mardi Gras Park in downtown Mobile. The Bellingrath Mardi Gras display has 16 light-covered figures and will be there through Fat Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The City of Mobile is closing down streets east of the Bankhead tunnel in the entertainment district on Fat Tuesday to make it easy for people to visit displays and floats of several parading organizations at Mardi Gras Park. Mayor Sandy Stimpson said people will still want to come downtown to celebrate and support local businesses, and this will allow for more social distancing.
