The Mobile Area Chamber will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. In observance of Thanksgiving, we will not publish the Business View Weekly next week and so we’ve listed events through Dec. 15 below.

Business Headlines

 

Small businesses, nonprofits and faith-based organizations impacted by COVID-19 could qualify for Revive Plus funding. The $200 million grant program announced this week by Gov. Kay Ivey will award up to $20,000 for operational interruption expenses caused by the pandemic and related business closures. The application period opens Monday, Nov. 23 and runs through Noon, Friday, Dec. 4. Find more information here.

Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP) is hosting a free virtual panel discussion to help companies respond to unexpected circumstances. Local business and government leaders will share innovations and best practices they implemented to adapt to the sudden changes brought on by a global pandemic. The event is Thursday, Dec. 3 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Registration is required to receive the Microsoft Teams webinar link.

Downtown Mobile Alliance needs your input on a follow-up survey measuring the impacts of COVID-19. The Mobile County Health Department is organizing Know B4U Go, a special COVID-19 testing event so people can test before traveling or gathering during the Thanksgiving holidays.

 

On Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be rapid tests free to individuals with results while you wait at five area family health centers – 2601 Dauphin Island Pkwy., 4009 Saint Stephens Rd., 950 E. Coy Smith Hwy., in Mount Vernon, 3810 Wulff Rd. E., in Semmes; and 248 Cox St. Individuals do not need to be displaying systems to be tested. Hargrove’s foundation is taking its annual fundraising gala virtual this year with an online auction Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 11. The effort supports the foundation’s charitable efforts. The Gulf Coast Exploreum is hosting STEM Wonderland through Tuesday, Jan. 5. The traveling exhibit features activities and educational opportunities for all ages.
