After day one of the Farnborough Air Show, attendees noted they are encouraged by the show so far – both with scheduled appointments and “cold calls.” Jana Stupavsky, senior project manager with the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce said the team attended 12 scheduled meetings, and made just as many unscheduled visits.
While not naming companies the team met with, she said they ranged from some introductory appointments to learn more about the company (some of whom have projects not in the aerospace sector), and to introduce Mobile, Alabama’s business assets to potential Airbus suppliers, most of whom are keenly aware of Mobile’s infrastructure advantages.
“We had some very good introductory meeting,” she added. “All were aware of Mobile, but had not been before. That could change.”
Stupavsky noted that in all today’s appointments the delegation was well prepared to discuss the Mobile/Baldwin region’s existing aerospace impact, and the infrastructure assets that set us apart.
