The Business View – November 2016 / From the Publisher
By Bill Sisson, Mobile Area Chamber President & CEO
These are some of the most exciting economic times in Mobile’s 315-year history – and it’s not by accident. Our momentum has been a strategic, public/private effort led by the Mobile Area Chamber and supported by our great partners at the city, county and more than 180 business leaders providing strategic direction and financial support.
The good news is we continue to be ranked as one of the most promising economies in the U.S. and have opportunities to advance our industry sectors. But we can’t forget we’re in competition every day with other cities, counties, states and countries for job creation.
In 2017, we will begin the funding campaign cycle of the next five-year Partners for Growth (PFG) economic development initiative. Our work during those five years will ensure our region meets its full potential fostering economic growth and providing access to opportunity for all the people of this great community. I honestly believe our opportunities to recruit more business and grow more jobs are greater than ever.
If we don’t get this right, though, our growth stalls. How can you help? Support PFG and work with us to maintain and advance this area’s position as a top location in the world for job growth and superb quality of life.
Over the coming year we’ll share more about our measurable goals and objectives through PFG. It’s a strong plan with more than 15 years of successes to back it up. But moving forward, our work is just beginning.
